HYDERABAD: TRS Supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao took the oath in Telugu for the chief minister of Telangana. After KCR, Mahmood Ali took the oath in Urdu as deputy chief minister of Telangana.
The ceremony has concluded with the national anthem.The governor ESL Narasimhan administered the oath to KCR and the ceremony began with the national anthem.
Rao was unanimously elected leader of the TRS Legislature Party by the newly-elected MLAs Wednesday.Rao has been re-elected from Gajwel assembly constituency in Siddipet district by a margin of 58,290 votes.
Under his leadership, the party has secured over 46.9% of the total votes polled in the state, reducing Congress-TDP combine to a distant second with a vote share of 28.9% vote share.
Observers credit the massive election success to KCR’s populist schemes such as “Rythu Bandhu”, a social security pension scheme and a life insurance plan for farmers.
In the December 7 elections, the TRS won 88 seats in the 119-member assembly, trouncing the Congress-led ‘Praja Kutami’, which ended up with a tally of 21. The BJP won just one seat in the state.
After the results were announced, KCR said he would increase his national outreach by playing an active role in Andhra Pradesh politics and national politics.
Taking Hyderabad as a base, I will work in the national politics. We are going to unite the polity of India and the people of India.
AIMIM chief Asaddudin Owaisi extended his support to the victorious KCR in Telangana and said he has all capacities to form a non-Congress government.
